GAIN Student Bursary - Low Income Household
As part of GAIN’s efforts to build a diverse talent pipeline for the investment management sector, we are thrilled to offer a bursary to support students whose finances are a barrier to accessing the opportunities GAIN provides which include:
GAIN Events (excluding networking drinks)
GAIN Insight Days
GAIN Investment Insight Programme Insight Days (conditions apply – see GIIP FAQs)
GAIN Empower Investment Internship Programme
How GAIN Can Support:
Travel Costs
GAIN Events & Insight Days: For students who meet the full Bursary eligibility criteria, we will support you by covering the costs of your travel to and from GAIN Events (excluding networking drinks).
GAIN Empower Investment Internship Programme: We understand that the upfront costs of an internship can be daunting. We will therefore support you with the cost of travel to your internship for the first 4 weeks with a contribution of up to £150 for a travel card or bus pass.
Office Attire
GIIP Insight Days: We will support eligible GIIP participants by contributing £50 towards the cost of office attire.
GAIN Empower Investment Internship Programme: We will support eligible internship programme participants by contributing £150 towards the cost of office attire.
Eligibility GAIN Student Bursary - Low Income Household
In line with similar bursary schemes, including those provided by higher education institutions, you must have a household income of less than £42,611 per year to be eligible for this bursary. Students who wish to apply should send GAIN the following documentation:
UK students: please provide your student finance letter confirming your student loan
International students (studying at a UK university): please provide a bursary letter from your university, or evidence that you are in receipt of a low-income grant or financial award. Alternatively, you can provide proof of parental income.

To process your request, we will need to receive your application form, documentation confirming your eligibility, relevant receipts, and your bank details within 5 working of the event ending.
All Bursary awards are given at GAIN’s discretion .
All GAIN programmes and events are free to participate in however there are other costs which can prohibit students and pupils taking advantage of them. We have 3 bursary options available to support with accessing our opportunities:

GAIN Bursary – Schools and Colleges
To be eligible for the bursary students must be studying at a UK university. Separate conditions apply for those on our internship programme. Please contact events@gainuk.org for further information.
GAIN Student Bursary: Distant Travel
We are also delighted to offer a bursary to support students who need to travel to access the opportunities that GAIN provides which include:
GAIN Events (excluding networking drinks)
GAIN Insight Days
GAIN Investment Insight Programme Insight Days (conditions apply – see (7) in GIIP FAQs)
How GAIN Can Support:
Travel Costs
GAIN Events, Work Experience Days & Insight Days: we will contribute towards your travel costs of either: £50, or half the cost of the ticket (whichever is the lower), regardless of household income.
Additional Night’s Accommodation
GAIN Investment Insight Programme: we will contribute up to £150 towards an additional night’s accommodation the day before the GIIP Insight Days in April.
Eligibility GAIN Student Bursary - Distant Travel
Any student who lives & studies over 30 miles from the GAIN Events location can apply for this bursary.
For the GIIP Programme, if you are travelling more than 125 miles to your Insight Days from the university or home address you provided in your application to the programme, you are eligible to apply for the additional night’s accommodation support.
Only students studying and living in the UK are eligible for the GAIN Bursary.

Please note: if you are studying in the same city that the event you wish to claim travel expenses for is being held, we will not be able to approve your application (excludes non-term time events).

GAIN Bursary – Schools and Colleges
We are pleased to offer a Bursary – Schools and Colleges to provide financial support to schools and colleges with a high number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to help them access the same GAIN opportunities and experiences as other pupils which includes:

GAIN Insight Days
How GAIN Can Support:
Travel for up to 5 students per school/college for an event
Eligibility requirements GAIN Bursary – Schools & Colleges
To be eligible for financial support from our bursary pot, schools must meet the following criteria:
A non-fee-paying school
The percentage of students eligible for pupil premium must be 30% or higher
We understand that data is not always an accurate assessment of a school’s financial situation, so if finance continues to be a barrier to attending our events and you do not meet our criteria, then please get in touch to discuss your circumstances.
