What teachers say:
“The speakers were amazing and really inspired our students with their story of how they have made a success of their career, coming from very different backgrounds.
It was great to see so many students asking them questions, particularly the quieter ones it didn't expect to come out of their shell.”
- Head of Economics & Business, Badminton School, Bristol
“The event was a massive success, the speaker was exceptional and she really was a big hit with the students. As a school we are really thankful for this being provided and look forward to next year”
- Sidney Stringer Academy, Birmingham
What you need to know
Although we were founded to support getting more women into Investment Management, we believe in raising awareness of the sector to all students, therefore our talks can be delivered to mixed gender groups.
Our talks are aimed at KS4 and KS5 pupils in year groups 10 - 13.
We have a fantastic network of nearly 2000 industry volunteers who are eager to support your school. They have a wide range of experience and skills so we can work with you to identify who would be most beneficial to speak with your students.
All our content is designed and delivered by GAIN and our network of volunteers, so there is no additional lesson planning for staff. We will also provide resources to schools after the talk, including a student workbook, so you are able to provide additional activities and learning for your students.
Our events can be delivered in person or virtually so we can reach all Secondary Schools and Colleges across England & Wales.
It is really easy to arrange a talk, and we work with you to find the best date and time for your students.
All our events are completely free! This year we also launched the GAIN Bursary to support with travel costs if needed*
Why we work with schools
In addition to our University programmes we work with students in KS4 & KS5, when they are beginning to think about their future careers, so they can consider a career in investment early on.
We do this by delivering compelling and impactful talks at schools, led by dynamic women in our investors network as well as providing practical experience and insight days hosted by our partner firms.
We then amplify this with online content bringing further information about careers in investing to students’ fingertips.
Research shows that when students have multiple encounters with employers whilst in school, they have more motivation to study harder, there is an increase in academic attainment, and they are less likely to become NEET as young adults.
Our talks and events will also support you to meet Ofsted requirements of providing:
“good quality, meaningful opportunities for pupils to encounter the world of work’. ”
— Ofsted (Source - Gov.uk)
How will pupils benefit?
Gatsby Benchmarks
Our talks and events will support your school in meeting 3 of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks required for Good Career Guidance:
Gatsby benchmark #2.
Learning from career & labour market information
Gatsby benchmark #5.
Encounters with employers and employees
Gatsby benchmark #6.
Experiences of workplaces

Insight Days
We collaborate with investment firms throughout the year to offer insight days to young women & non-binary students interested to learn what it's like to work in an investment firm.
Each day is different but they usually consist of:
An introduction to investment & the host firm
A panel with inspirational women from the company
A tour of office
Workshop/ activity for students
Speed networking with employees
Students over the age of 16 can attend independently and do not need to be accompanied by a staff member (although staff are always welcome). There will always be a DBS checked member of staff attending the event from GAIN.
In 2023 we hosted insight days with: Apollo Global, Barings, Barnett Waddingham, CIBC, JP Morgan, Oaktree Capital, Pantheon Ventures, TwentyFour Asset Management, UBS, Waverton.
